What basically happened was that because of their focus on casual players, and making everything so easy for the beginners, DPS role became largely irrelevant cause, you know, aiming is hard, and casuals don't wanna spend hours practicing their aim.
And so the meta in esports shifted to a team of 3 tank and 3 supports, which made the entirety of it one of the most boring things to watch, and so to combat this Blizzard basically enforced the 2 Tanks -2 DPS- 2 Supports team composition, which completely killed their game as a result because game queues would go as high as 20 minutes, and considering that an average match was like 10-12 minutes long, not to mention the quality of those was rarely good.
