a rough count shows ~260 options, this is a lot of possibilities which is both a blessing (my oshi is on the list) and a curse (she'll never get enough votes)
i propose that the first round be the same as it currently is, all options available, pick 10
after this comes first pass:
all options greater than or equal to 50% of the vote are automatically in, all options with 0 votes are automatically out
for example, there are 300 responses and 150 vote for THE JAW so she's locked in and ~20 got no votes so they're all out, now we have ~240 options and 9 slots, we can't do another round yet though as it would be identical to the first round so now we need the cutoff:
i see two ways this could be done and both can work so would really be your preference,
first would be an arbitrary cutoff, take the bottom 30%, 50% or 70% of the votes and discard them (depends on how harsh you want to be) leaving you with 168, 120 or 72 options and run the vote again
second would be discarding everyone with less than a certain percentage of the votes e.g. 5%, 10%, 20% - so anyone with less than 15, 30 or 60 votes would be gone, how many options this leaves you with is up to the results but there needs to be at least more than 9 and if too harsh will garner complaints
now for the second round, lets say we went with slicing off the bottom 70%, arbitrary and harsh but we need to get shit done, we have 72 options and 9 choices. this time we got 250 votes, 6 players got over 50% of the vote so they're in, none got 0 so no cutoff there and we're left with 66 options and 3 slots so now there's a decision to be made, do you take the next 3 highest options and call it there or go for a 3rd round?
i would say it depends, if there are clear favourites and a bunch of shitters then pick the next 3 and call it there, if there's contention then do another cutof (bottom 70% so 20 options left) with voters only getting a single choice to make and picking the top 3
that's the general gist of my proposal and i made a few assumptions with my examples, with the data at hand you'd be able to make a more informed opinion. the most important part is the cutoff between votes - getting rid of niche options and presenting a way for the non-holo voters to have options that may not be perfect but are good enough to be satisfied. posting the results of the poll with a clear demarcation of whose getting discarded and why in-between rounds is also vital to making informed choices
