>>60522194because I haven't seen this opinion get staked out in these threads before and I feel like it's valuable that this opinion needs to be stated
maybe in some irrational way I feel like saying such a thing here somehow stops 'vtubers are just normal with an avatar and that's why we watch them' becoming the only/accepted opinion or that doing so prevents this becoming the norm in vtubing in some impossible absurd way
I know I'm probably just an autistic retard but it seems like I rarely ever see people stating this obvious premise about vtubing here
I'm just articulating my kneejerk gut reaction of frustration I feel when I think about things like Ame sperging out about being shipped for example, it just feels wrong that she would complain about such a thing - her talking about shipping characters just reminded me of it because of the apparent hypocrisy of it
>>60522449>You DO realize them being a "character" isn't a thing, right? No one does thatnot true
>Nobody in Hololive is ever 100% in-characteryeah in the same way that 'everybody sins and falls short of godliness' in christianity, yeah. It's like that. I watch them fully expecting them to slip up and never be the perfect ideal of a 100% in-character vtuber 24/7 because that's what I've come to expect now, but I'll always still be irritated when they slip up and wish they improved anyway
I just can't fathom why you'd watch vtubers thinking 'the lore doesn't matter, the character doesn't matter, the roleplay doesn't matter, I'm fine with it all just being a thin cover for their irl shit in fact it SHOULD be like that because I like them the person and watch them parasocially as a replacement for a gf' - and then not just watch egirl flesh streamers when that's basically what you're asking for.
At some point you have the admit there's something about them being an avatar/character that is some kind of quintessentially appealing point, nit just that you like the woman.
