>>61621089They have done a lot of good moves.
They have a massive budget so they are not true undedogs, there are other small corpos that actually struggle to keep up but idol's CEO can flex on xwitter how he will fund any equipment, games or props the members need.
Besides top tier models and rigs they also got some fairly big indies to livestream and shill their debuts.
Tho credit where it's due they made some great moves.
Aviel's bullshit blog and tweets have turned him into a pseudo Yagoo figure and he has managed to get involved in big discussions about vtuber ethics without coming off as too shameless.
They've given their members a fairly good range of freedom too which helped them find their own niches well.
Another big thing were the ads, they ran a very heavy ad campaign on youtube, other corpos have done it afterwards as well but idol was the first small corpo I saw aggressively showing targeted ads this much and that couldn't have been cheap.
But it paid off clearly, meanwhile other small corpos are too conservative with budget and don't invest as much so their growth is smaller. This was allegedly a reason behind Kawaii's third gen quitting.
Their hiring was very good too, no idol has gone full yab yet and most of them are generally recognized as being very fun, Pochi is ironically the one that was called boring most often and she's still fairly entertaining.
The corpo has a good range of content, it's not all just low effort gaming shit and they have different appeals too.
Aviel was even considering males but after seeing how it played out for the biggest company out there he realized if they can't make it work he sure can't either.
Now they wan to expand into ES, first noteworthy company going that direction. They are actually beating Holo and Niji at it.
