The entire clique was. Moe ditching them didn't stop her from being bland and quite bitchy to be perfectly honesty with you.

Vshojo works the opposite of other vtuber corpos in that they want people to discover a vtubers past life so their old fans will follow them over. They even go as far as to drop heavy past life hints in teaser videos, and use different twitter hashtags so fans can immediately tell if a new member was an indie or ex-corpo. Nijisanji and Hololive on the other hand, would prefer that we don't discuss the past lives of their vtubers so fans don't get funneled to the personal accounts of their members, and it makes it a bigger risk for their chuubas to leave.

Besides the otaku moe channel has been abandoned for something like 3 years almost. It's original purpose was to be an engliah translation channel for eilene and beilene videos. Now that natsumi joined hololive, the logical step is to just have to channel go back to it's original purpose.

I don't know of her situation but it reminds me of another vtuber (Azulim) who managed to get control over her vtuber channel because the company went bankrupt and didn't pay her salary.
She kept the vtuber channel as a replacement to her salary I think because it had no value to the bankrupt company without her.
That could be worth checking out.

I think Azulim made a video on this topic although it happened in Japan, so the situation may be different.

Seriously, it reeked of desperation, the ratio of shill to content was all wrong, the typical move done when all is lost and one just wants to get all it can before the ship goes down under.

Holo would die in 3 months if all they did was what Eilene did in the end. It was that bad. It killed any joy her channels content had offered, and they did offer some don't get me wrong. It literally turned them into a barren wasteland of crappy adds for barely functional games or crap. That shit is undefendable over any point that doesn't include as main motivator to cash out before crashing out. Without Eilene, most of the EN chuuba sphere might have been relegated to obscurity, because she helped create a strong community of translators and gave them experience, who went on to make channels to sub hololive which made them blow up. Of course, it wasn't solely her, there was a lot of bugmen before the China schism who also helped but it was very cool to see the scene evolve.
