It did a lot of damage but without it we would still have a lot of complacency among unicorns in the fanbase. There was no guarantee that we wouldn't have eventually drifted into a death by a thousand cuts situation without the homos, where a male collab crops up with somebody outside hololive.
Homos basically streamlined the process and let everybody who could get pissed off get pissed off at once, which is of course better because those people give a lot of money and views when totalled up and had they been scared off without being able to group up, Hololive and vtubing would have been worse off for it.
