But I guess the intention is to have a shared, touching emotional moment (even though I dont feel it and it comes across as melodramatic and forced)
Like the obligatory "aww it's crying time" part of the show, the directors were probably going "here write this thing and then read it during this part of the show and also cry a bit, yeah some sniffles would be good too nice nice"
