It's a big market with a large interest in japanese culture. You either expand in to xing-chong land, South Korea or Indonesia. Burgerland isn't super big for that type of content. There is a market, but other regions are larger.

one of the possible reasons is that asian countries directly enjoy jp stuff and dont have a barrier against jp holomems or jp branch like micomet could hold a short concert or something in singapore without any localisations and also could make taiwanese excited in taiwan. asian countries are just more accessible than america.

americans always need localisations or dont directly enjoy jp stuff so the scale has to be somewhat smaller there. although things might be slowly changing like they, in the mainstream industry, are finally starting to watch a japanese movie in their theatres without en dub.

Fun fact, japanese movies like Seven samurai and godzilla had original subbed released in american theaters int he 50's, and were smash box office hits.

The U.S used to have a really strong love of japanese film in its original language.
