>>65312635>Imagine a musician making an album and it being canceled right before it comes out There is a huge difference between having an album cancelled before it comes out vs after. Selen's cover was released, announced, and out there. Unreleased is worlds apart from releasing it and then having to retract it because of some sort of management bullshit, especially if it's outside of the control of the people working on the project itself.
I'm a musician myself and I've also released my original MVs/worked on music commissions for various Vtubers (no niji so I don't know how their process usually is, but I've worked with holo/vshojo at least). Between paying/coordinating artists, musician(s), mix/master engineer + vocal tuning/timing (if separate), MV editors, and whoever else, it takes a lot of time and money and sometimes stress if you have a deadline to hit. I have an unreleased song that has been in the works because I paid the artist and the (paid) artist failed to fully deliver after some months of back and forth. That sucks it's still unreleased but whatever. The fans don't know how long it has been in the works and don't care if I just announce it a week in advance. If I released a song and started to promote, and then I had to retract it, I'd be pissed. I'd try to re-release it after fixing whatever problem, but if for some reason the problem was unfixable, encouraging people to share it on their own so people could hear it seems reasonable. I'd rather someone hear/see the work than it just sit on the bench forever. If nothing else, I'd at least get promotion that way through sharing my name, even though getting my money back and profit on the project from streams is down the shitter.
