Leaf here. If somebody is stupid and tells the wrong person they are suicidal, even as a joke, you can call 911.
Most citty police and the RCMP have grounds to arrest you under the mental health act and throw your ass in the hospital.

The hospital is then obligated to run mental tests on you and depending on how well/not well you answer they can let you out early, hold you for 3 days without diagnosis, or "certify" you which means declare you unfit for society (even temporarily) and hold you until they feel like it.

ironically there are "chronically" suicidal people who say they will kill themselves almost weekly and those people spend the least amount of time in the hospital. Literally boy who cried wolf scenario. But the police arrest them all the same.

FWIW I don't think there was a medical accident. Looking at history, it's more likely she's using the medical excuse to take a break from all this bullshit.
