>>712495Imagine if Yugoslavia was stuck in a constant civil war, but halfway through it, an identical landmass came out of the sea right near Croatia that was an exact copy of Yugoslavia, but with an extra chunk that would represent the ENs. Let's call it "Newgoslavia." So some non-combatants evacuated the wargrounds to settle in the Newgoslavia next to Yugoslavia.
Now imagine the Newgoslavians built a culture on the idea of no previous identity, that they would live their own lives in peace in their own homes, but in public, they would all abide by common love and culture of Newgoslavia.
After the civil war gets really, REALLY bad in Yugoslavia, more combatants defect their armies and leave to settle in Newgoslavia, but they want to bring their own culture with them. So they accept Newgoslavian identity, but also bring their own loves and traditions while stripping away the things that led to Yugoslavia breaking down in the first place, like cross-cultural dissatisfactions.
Keep that up until Newgoslavia is nearly as full as Yugoslavia used to be, but only with people who wanted peace and prosperity, while Yugoslavia is now just a pure warground inhabited by soldiers who want to fight more than they want to win, the ones who made the battlefield their home.
That's the closest approximation I can think of, if Newgoslavia also randomly got kicked out of the Mediterranean Ocean by God near the end and became an island off the coast of Portugal instead.
