>>73264952As someone who primarily watches EN indies on twitch, I'll do my best to lay out what you are missing by not watching indies. Note that most of the stuff I mention here also applies to Vshojo.
* Vtubers that stream things that makes little sense under Hololive rules. This may include lewdtubers with OnlyFans or game perms, but also any hobby which requires hand-cams or face reveals. Content pertaining to the vtubing industry and vtuber model drawing/rigging also falls under this category.
* Vtubers with concepts too risky for Hololive. Someone else already mentioned Neuro-sama the AI vtuber. I want to point out Filian who always streams with 3D tracking in VRChat and does backflips on a daily basis.
* The vtuber model itself usually looks better, and there tends to be a huge emphasis on 2.0s or even 3.0s. Hololive has to ensure that almost 100 models are consistently good. An indie vtuber like Shylily can dump all their money to their favourite artists/riggers to get an absolutely crazy looking model. Or you can be Ironmouse and possess an entire vtuber wardrobe.
* Physical appearances in conventions. You can physically meet your Oshi and get them to sign some merchandise.
* Smaller community = more chance for engagement. You will be responded to frequently enough from most indies if you know how to communicate to the streamer effectively.
Hopefully this was helpful for anyone who wants to understand the soul of non-Hololive.
