Everyone is credited in the description. Some scenes really do look like some of Gainax/Trigger's top tier stuff, I got that impression as well.
It has nothing to do with Cover getting the artists, though, she paid for everything herself, which is why she said this is the most expensive thing she's released so far. They can get as high quality talent as they want, as long as they're willing to pay for it.

Even without comparing the content and bringing any negative biases to the picture, even my favorite twitch streamer just spends the big donations he receives on pizza and butthash, Marine takes a chunk of her earnings and invests into things like Connected Fantasia, this incredible MV, the regular videos she puts out, covers and the list goes on. You get a lot more for your money, that's undeniable. Most of it you get even if you didn't put any money in yourself.

That stream was really a nice example of necessity being the mother of invention. She was lamenting in an earlier stream that her birthday and anniversary were so close, which meant she couldn't have two concerts, and wishing she didn't choose July for her birthday. But even as an idolfag who cares about the music the most out of any Hololive content, I still think it's better to have the two events being different like this. It makes things feel more fresh and exciting. When she said the anniversary stream "wouldn't be 3D", I was expecting a regular Live2D thing, not really fun 3D skits, and that she just meant "not a 3D concert".

Well, yes, it's a surface level resemblance due to the color, movement, multiple of the same woman and bouncing tits. Nothing wrong with pointing that out, nobody is claiming "this is literally MeMeMe 2"
For the overall MV and music, it reminded me more of Paprika than anything else. Though probably mostly in aesthetic, because I can't say I remember anything specific about Paprika's OST.

Okay so, I do really respect Marine for trying something new and experimenting while backing the entire cost herself.
But while the animation really is goddamn adorable, the track a accompanying it is so fucking schizophrenic and devoid of any sort of melody it kills it. Like the opening bit sounds similar to a heart beat right?
That could've been built into something really cool, but it felt forgotten while the entire track devolved into some sort of pretentious art piece.

But then again, maybe it really is just a artistic shitpost? If so shes a fucking genius cause that was almost so bad it was good.

I loved the song a lot, but Marine probably should have went with a more mainstream friendly idol-style song for her big expensive music video and saved the more niche stuff as a B-side or something. I really don't think there's anything pretentious about it, it's fairly straightforward. I don't see it as a plebfilter either. I'm a big Gorillaz fan, so forgive me for making a comparison that isn't very good, but to me this sits between Plastic Beach and The Now Now, if anyone is also a fan. I would never say Gorillaz is "pretentious", or whatever. It's fairly mainstream music. You either like it or you don't.
In fact, I was expecting it to be weirder, given her warnings. I suppose that was the main reason behind said warnings in the first place, settings expectations accordingly, so something slightly different feels normal.
I really really like it, but I think it's ok if others don't. It says nothing about you either way.

This is probably my age talking but I actually don't like the unzipped version of her new outfit. It's trying way too hard to be sexy/lewd and it feels like it's targeted at teens to early 20's males. If I want sexy, I'd prefer something to be left to the imagination or something that shows off curves while not showing too much bare skin (that's why I think her original and new years outfits are amazing). I love all of Watame's songs but I would agree they don't stand out as much. At the same time, however, I don't think the time they take to make necessarily has much to do with it; in the first place, we don't even know how long it took to make Ahoy or Unison. Marine is often focusing on other things, while Watame is using literally all of her free time to make songs (both covers and originals).

For sure, I don't necessarily mean actual time to make, just that being more spaced out will naturally lead to things being a little different. Just having your head in a different place at the moment, different goals, different stuff you've been enjoying, all of this will be reflected in your creative output. If we got 5 songs that sound just like Ahoy at once, none of them would be special, instead of being almost the poster child of holo originals, and a staple of every karaoke stream. "Every member singing Ahoy and talking about how fun it is" wouldn't be a thing if they had to choose between 5 Marine songs.

I think this can be worked around fairly easily with a version with more backing vocals than you'd usually have specifically for this. Similarly to how whenever a member sings the version of Ahoy without the chants and tries to do everything themselves, they almost die out of breath.
If 今宵はHalloween Night can have like 30% of the song as backing vocals in an actual live concert while being a group song, surely something similar for a solo karaoke won't get any complaints from the audience.

I think it's how well it ties to her theme, character and aesthetic. The instrumental is pure pirate fun shit, like in 2:42, and the vocals also reflect that quite a bit both in lyrics and melody. The parts we're supposed to chant out loud in Ahoy are things we feel and think while watching streams, instead of just the traditional "hai! hai! hai!" to go with the melody and support the idol. It's an anthem to her whole channel.
The overall positive and pop vibe may sell it short as "another idol song", but it's much more unique than "being an idol is fun and I love my fans" songs like, say, Daily Diary (which I also enjoy). The message still holds true for Ahoy, but it's expressed much more in character.
She could totally pull off a full Maximum the Hormone cover. The energy is already similar.

Unison is definitely a vibe type of song. Meaning you have to be in the right mindset in order to enjoy it. So becomes an acquired taste; some folks will love it, some folks will hate it, and someone may switch back and forth depending on the day. The animations where gorgeous and I think the visual effects guy and the director must have been high as fuck on LSD when making this.

So, Marine asked us to think about shit for chat to say during Unison when used to end the stream. I have an idea, but it's pretty cringeworthy, so I want to run it by you guys first so in case it sucks I at least get ridiculed anonymously.
Anyway, it's basically a rehash of how in Ahoy we'll say ここすき (I like this part), later ここもすき (I also like this part), then ぜんぶすき (I like everything), and culminating in せんちょうだいすき (I love Senchou).
In this case, during the part where "the 4 Marines" are singing "Choose me" in unison, all the schizos in chat will just pick whichever outfit they like and post it, like ゴスロリ好き, or パーカー好き, and it's a flood of all the costumes being spammed, but then once the mahou shoujo sequence beings, where she becomes one Marine with elements of all outfits, representing how every facet of her is a real part of her, chat then in unison says 船長大好き.
How is it? Too stupid?

That's a good thing, I wouldn't add the "but" to this sentence.
To me, melancholy is a recurring theme of her streams. It's the main feeling I have when she's sharing stories about her past, mainly the work related ones, but also some family ones.
Like for example, I don't think she ever openly said what exactly happened to her mother (correct me if I'm wrong), but it's clear that the oldest stories involve her, and the more recent ones don't. That life experience feeling the gaps of things left unsaid often brings a feeling of melancholy and nostalgia to her stories.
Even her insecurities with some of the song's themes like one of the more successful holos, arguably the most right now, asking people to choose her, any side of her is fine, because they're all her. She's pretty open about her need of validation, and laments when there are too many collabs in any given week, because she can't get that validation from talking to chat.
The cure for your sadness is more Marin.

It's possible, but her stories that do involve her mom all seem to be fond memories. Whatever it was, there doesn't seem to be bad blood. Which is why I personally always thought she lost her mother somewhat young.
But it is possible the reason her mother left the family has nothing to do with her children, and so they don't resent her.
