>>78967658You know what bugs me so fucking much about the opening of skyrim? they could have better integrated the civil war and the dragon plot of skyrim by doing one simple thing: have it so alduin shows up during the moment when Ulfric is being beheaded instead of the player character
this is for several reasons
1, there is no reason for them not to immediately kill this guy, he is a high value target and they worked hard to get him. you cant make the argument that they were never actually going to kill him to perpetuate the war because when arriving at helgen you see tullius arguing with elenwen, and dialogue files indicate that she was demanding he hand ulfric over to her but he refuses.
2, it allows the stormcloaks a stronger story in "Ulfric has divine right" because fucking dragons literally came back to stop him from getting his head chopped off, there are already lines in the base game about how some people believe the stormcloaks somehow controlled the dragons to fuck up the empire, this would only help feed into that line of thought.
3, stops the player character from being the fucking focus of everything, yet again and makes it seem less like complete bullshit luck that alduin gets shat out in time at the exact moment that the only one that can stop him is about to get killed, inadvertently saving him but bethesda wanted that goofy ass first person 'ahh look im about to get head chopped off but now theres dragon!! wow!!!'
