Got out of the traditional work force in 2020. I work self-employed seasonal labour for Boomers with money and too much time on their hands with a shit load of home projects or general labour they're too old to be doing. I'll work like a dog from late March to September, Fall and winter off. I don't have anyone and live pretty spartan so the money lasts. During work season I work generally independently so I have my phone and earbuds. No direct boss except for the clients asking about progress or wanting to add to the project or just shooting the
shit.At the end of the day we'll have lunch and maybe drinks. I've become a social chameleon, I'll listen to them talk and try to mirror them. If they're liberals, I'm liberal, if their conservatives I'm conservative. Reinforcing their worldviews makes them feel comfortable enough for return business. It's nice living if you're single and not too ambitious. Have basic labour skills and just be generally strong and you'll get work because old people talk.
