Streamers and VTubers have the same troubles "getting an audience" but for most VTubers, once you get to a certain level of audience you won't lose them.
Twitchfags are all F2P types, but VTubers necessitate some type of monetary investment from at least a few people in order to fully enjoy them (e.g. membership emotes, SC readings, merch and other stuff etc. which streamer audiences won't do).
This means that once you get a core audience invested in you, they will not leave as long as you continue giving them the same content that got them hooked.
This is why people talk of watching Marine even when she's 50.
Streamers can stream for 10-15 years but it doesn't mean they retain the same audience.
Plenty of streamers like Ninja or Myth still stream to this day but their audience is nowhere near their peak.
Basically, a streamer loses their audience first before they stop streaming. But a VTuber that gets a decent audience will ALWAYS quit streaming (or change their content) before they lose that audience.
