I think the gangs vs police system works well to provide some basic objectives for most players, but the metagame and who is "winning" should never become the main focus of this kind of event. It should remain just another mechanic to push players to interact with each other.
I remember reading that Miko had some ideas that didn’t make it into the event in the end, like illegal car races and stuff like that. I wonder if they were worried about alienating too much of the GTA RP community by straying from the usual formula.
I hope the bakery arc hijacking the server encourages the organizers to relax a little more next time and just go with whatever sounds fun, without worrying about what diehard RP fans might think. What people really want is to see the holomem interacting with each other for a whole week and make some fun memories together.
