So a Burger might say "McDonald's" using the full name, or the equally-long slang of "Micky Dee's", or something like that.
Japan says "Makku" instead.
Australians (as we learned?) say "Maccas".
But then "No" becomes "Naaawwwrrr".
Just like with Japanese, it's fun to notice, to puzzle out the patterns, and I find it kind of endearing.
Sorry to the ozzies out there for exoticizing you, but this is all quite novel to me.
