What's the going rate on ex-Holo's changing their colors, anyways? In EN, Ame seems to have kept her general aesthetic scheme but Sana's new sparsely used avatar did change hair color. In JP, it does seem to vary depending on how attached the talent was to their old life. Maybe Fauna's new model will have green hair.

This is the trap that corpos like Disney/Star Wars/Marvel and WB/DC have fallen into. They make more from merch that they are using their comics divisions as IP farms. The only difference is that for Marvel/DC, they have 80+ years of content to mine (which they did for 2008-2019) successfully. Now they're learning that their new shit doesn't make money because they're basing them on more recent, post-megacorpo-acquisition IP which pales in comparison to the classic stuff that built the brand.

Cover is in the beginning stages of this shit, except they only have less than 5 years of "content" to mine. There's only so many people who will buy a Pekora plushie or a Gura onahole. And if they chase enough of the girls out of the company, those numbers are going to keep dwindling.

Streamwatchers are loyal to the girls, not the company. Concertwatchers are more company-oriented. But merch? Merch buyers buy merch of the girls, not just Covermerch in general. Which is why you see threads about x girl hasn't sold out yet. They're going to learn the hard way that you can't build a company on acrylic standees.

On the surface, selling merch helps the girls. But if you completely restructure or refocus the company to put merch as the top priority over the girls, there will be repercussions. Logistical issues, priority issues, just allocation of resources (human, capital, studio, attention, etc.). For example, one of the major complaints has always been game perms. Directly, it can also affect the girls if you do shit like personally-signed stuff. I distinctly remember some of the girls having to not stream because they're signing merch, etc. Indies I've seen solve this problem by making content out of that - merch signing/packing streams which also double as zatsus. But those are IRL camstreams obviously and Cover has a thing about "protecting the brand image" vs camstreams.

I watch a lot of people who successfully navigate that system, they know exactly how long you can use a clip, what sounds to make in front of a video to avoid the AI copystrike system, etc. Cover needs to treat that shit more seriously than just have the girls bug their managers for perms.

If anything I'd pin it to being Publishers and the license agreement for streaming. Not wanting the games mixed up would be ideal if there are any potential serious issues that could negatively affect their standing. For example playing a normal game and then playing something that gets the streamer banned but instead of changing the title it's just the name of the game. May affect something in their logistics or analytics.
