Problem is that... They are listening to some evil bs from equally chaotic non-truly benign beings. Those lie a lot. They are effectively giving them earthly riches in exchange for accelerating the demise of the world as it is. But that is because even those things now it is futile to resist, the moment the Lord or however it truly likes to be called, arrives, the moment those beings lose instantly. Because of "powerscaling". So, knowing their demise is inevitable. They are accelerating it. Knowing they are not going to be the only ones paying for sinning. And also cutting short the remaining time of the world as it is. Knowing they cannot stop the world as it will be. By then, they will be gone. Smiten or banished, but while also leaving a permanent scar on us through their previous actions and having given the metaphorical middle finger to God or Gods before signing out of this plane forever.
