it's what happened to War of the Spark japanese booster boxes, the chase card was a foil japanese liliana with art by Yoshitaka Amano (still sells for 1,500-4,000 if graded)
what happens is there was one guaranteed foil mythic rare japanese art planeswalker in each pallet of cases. distributors would open cases and boxes until they got the one guarantee and then sell off the rest of the cases. thats why you can still buy JP WAR boxes for $150
for reference, a case is 6 booster boxes, and a pallet is 40ish cases.
