It's a shameless request... I know it's not the right place but well versed photoshop anons are here co maybe someone can run me through how to make the good cutouts (I wouldn't exactly call them vectors)? I like playing with photoshop but I'm a retard at using it.
I have relatively no problems with simple white backgrounds and clear lines, the wand and masks are good enough, issues happen with more complex stuff, where everything is in shades of gray/black, characters/objects are overlapping or blurry outlines.
You can see the issues in pic related, I've made it more obvious to bring out my points, my problems would be:
>how to make the outline clear?
I mean to have no leftover from background but to also not cut the image lines. The outline here is good but what if the edges are more irregular with a lot of tiny pixels sticking out that you would want to keep but also get rid of the bits between them (like very messy hair and similar stuff)? Like the legs area here, maybe you can make rough outline of the silhouette and then paint it over with something that gets rid of everything but black pixels? I've also seen feather and it's size mentioned somewhere but the online tutorials for cutouts I've found aren't that good.
>how to make the final image look more smooth
Here I mean how to make the pixels and their transition between tones not stick out that much.
I''m using CS2 if that helps but I think it doesn't. I would appreciate if someone explained it step by step so I could follow and go from there.
