>>1428417Depends on the image. If it is low rez or super contrasty you'll have to add more steps in the process. What this adding of steps does is dither out those jaggies more by slowly blurring them out. But attempting to retain the crispness and contrast of the source.
Bascilly if your upscaling in steps and the hard edges start to jaggie your stepping up too much and need to half it. KEY is to keep it even division. 1/2 1/4 1/6 1/8 1/10 etc 50% 25% 12.5% 6.25% etc
Keep in mind some images will NEVER work out. This one is a good example, 1000pixels wide but the lines are so contrasty and sharp it will jaggie no matter what. And would involve so many small steps up that it will be soft no matter what you do.
You can see the effect it would have if I added more steps all the jaggies are starting to look like Charles Schultz before he passed away, serious arthritis hands or Parkinsons wobble in all the lines.
