While writing in Japanese (because they mostly use Chinese characters as well as their own characters) is difficult because Korean has its own alphabet, speaking is far easier because not only is the language structure the same but also we share quite a few words. I think the relationship between the Korean and Japanese language is sort of like Spanish and Portuguese. We can sort of understand what the other saying.
