Little brother, you're going to be alright. I'm 28 and you wouldn't believe what I've been through in my life. So let me tell you this: high school is such a farce. Looking back now I can genuinely say that my public school experience felt like a prison sentence. Day in, day out, held captive. Your life is consumed by pointless work that hardly teaches you anything useful in the real world. You're just there to go through the motions. So do it. Play their game. Do what's expected of you and stay on top of your grades. Just think of it this way: in one year's time you'll be several years removed from your high school graduation. Hang in there and tough it out, my young friend.
You know what I wish someone would have told me when I was your age? None of what you're dealing with now matters in the end. The things I was so concerned with, so anxious over, none of it even mattered! No one will remember that you got the worst or the best grade in your class. No one will remember some dumb social situation that happened to you or a friend. It's all fleeting. While you grow as a man, your perspective of life in society should deepen. But I cannot tell you exactly how for you must get there on your own. We all walk our own paths. Pursue true knowledge (read books) and contemplate higher purpose. Be open to new experiences, travel around. Relish risks and never let fear conquer you. Develop yourself into the man you wish your father was for you. Do not fret over anything that isn't in your immediate power. Above all, stay true. You may not understand a bit of what I have told you. And that's fine. But one day, years from now, you might recall these words and suddenly it will all make sense.
Look alive out there, man!
