This anon has it right.
The cocoon tactic works. It forces you to stop comparing yourself to others, leaving you with the only option to better yourself. I've used this tactic to varying to degrees in my life at different times. I always come back stronger. I've found that the males that are most successful in life are the ones who disappeared for awhile and grinded out some serious self improvement. They disconnected from the server of life to "update", if you will. People think they're gifted, but they don't realize they've been drone'in out on hard work for awhile by themselves.
I'm working on a mechanical engineering degree, I have jobs lined up, and my numbers in the gym make people come up to me asking for advise. I always tell them the same thing. Cocoon.
You simply just need to start reading, working out, and working.
If you really can't find a job, start in construction, roofing, or painting. I've used those fields to make money quickly because they'll hire just about anyone on the flip of a coin and they'll keep you if you work hard. Plus they're typically above minimum wage and they teach good work ethic. They're hard and you'll learn good life skills and confidence.
Chin up solider. You're never out of the fight, unless you're dead... which you're not.
