I think the reason I like shitty looking, wet concrete apartment buildings is my aunt. She lived in this (now that I think about it, pretty depressing) block that was just ugly yellow apartment buildings. The place smelled like trash, was dirty as shit, and probably very dangerous at night; but I always loved going to her house. I "played" karate with my big cousins (they were around 22 years old and they are both black belts in some martial art I can't remember the name of), we all played cards together, and my uncle introduced me to computer games, at a time where I had no computer at home. The place was VERY small, and it was all bright colors; lots of white, bright green and yellow. Some of my favorite memories from my childhood take place in that shitty apartment. Sadly at some point during my teenage years I became sort of apathetic towards my family in general, and very bleak. My aunt lives in another state now, and she probably thinks I don't like her anymore, plus she has been fighting cancer for a few good years now.
God I really should be closer to my family.
Also this is maybe not a wallpaper, but I guess if I cropped it, it could work as a phone pape. Whatever. I definitely have more images of shitty apartments that ARE wallpapers, but this one describes what I'm talking about the most.
