I too used to stare at them obsessively, taking in every little detail. The textures on the blue spartan on the Snowbound screenshot are amazing, really blew me away back in 06.
Halo 3 (and Reach) had basically PC shooter levels of content; Forge, Custom Games, Co-op, Theater mode etc.
I think the old 00s PC FPS cynics would be rather empathetic towards Halo fans if they just tried to put themselves in our shoes. They have themselves lived through the downfall of the Arena FPS games they grew up with.
