still looking for suggestions on how to style the to-do list, seen in red for easy visibility. I can't seem to get a hide/show option working in the simpler css/javascript ways, it's driving me insane

Most of them have guides included in the .zip file (or in the GitHub repository before you download them). All you need to do is open the .HTML file and it will automatically open on your default browser. From there all you need to do is copy the link in the url bar (usually something like: file:///D:/Start Pages/Startpage by Kevin May/index.html - take note that the url will (obviously) look different depending where you saved the contents of the .zip file) and make it your home page on your browser's settings.

If, however, you also want the start page to load when you open a new tab, then you will need a third party add-on/extension to do that for you.

For Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/custom-new-tab/

For Chrome/Chromium:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/new-tab-redirect/icpgjfneehieebagbmdbhnlpiopdcmna?hl=en

There are more options regarding new tab(s) add-ons/extensions, but I consider those the best for their respective browsers.

They all tend to work on Firefox, Chrome, and Opera (for the most part). The one browser that seems to have problems loading some of them is Internet Explorer, and that's, well, IE for you.

One last (obvious) thing, make sure you save ALL of the contents together, meaning that don't just extract the .HTML file and disregard the rest of the contents from the .zip file. Most of the other folders include images that are used for the start pages themselves, so yeah.

If you have any more questions, then don't be afraid to ask. Also, make sure to check the OP if you're looking for Start Pages. You're bound to find one that you like, and if you don't, then you can always make your own.

i, personally, would take a similiar background color, maybe a bit darker so its more in the background of the site focus should still be on the links
how do you add tasks ? and how many tasks do you usually have to add ? if the scrollbar is not necessary i would definitely kill that thing

and again it's just my opinion on this the rest of the site looks fucking good

looks good. the only objective problem is the sprites sometimes being too big and pushing the clock off the screen, requiring you to scroll down. a search bar might be a good idea, though that's a subjective advantage. still, well done

That was just an example of how the HTML should be structured, try and have a look at the code it's really easy.
Any HTML tutorial will teach you the basics to do what you need

Download the zip, extract somewhere, open index.html, copy the address and set as homepage from your browser options. You can also make it show when you open a new tab, but I'm posting from my phone so I can't give you the instructions right now.

Still, it's very easy: the basic structure of a link is <a href="http://some.page">Some page</a>.
If you still need help, just ask. Reading an HTML guide is a good idea too.

This is how far i got with my work.
Thinking of geting a search bar but if google chrome start default on it's own searchbar it's kinda pointless.

So expect for chaining fonts and colors i am pretty much done.
