Just getting my little dig in on that. My mom is one of those hyper-religious nut cases and she constantly surrounds herself with every "inspirational" trinket she can figure out how to throw money away on. I've noticed on a few occasions where such merchandise sort of just assumes "holy property rights" and uses whatever they want however they want to make a profit in god's name.
In particular, I worked in the music scene for nearly 20 years. I recognize a lot of musical riffs and melodies & such that crop up in "inspirational music" that make no mention of the original source and are claimed under copyright of "inspirational singers."
