As someone who is both an atheist and pretty much politically indifferent with a slight lean to the left, I love the crusades In the same way I love world war 2. Liking history has nothing to do with politics. I even have a few axis papes in my collection, not because I'm a neo-nazi, but because I find the history fascinating. What both The Crusaders and Nazis did was terrible, (The Nazis being far worse, but still) but that doesn't mean you can't show respect to them. The Nazis where bad asses, that's a fact. In the beginning of the war they were arguably one of the most powerful military forces in history, they wiped the floor with the opposition. Those skilled soldiers were humans to, and there bravery deserves to be remembered, even if what they fought for was, from our point of view, evil.
