>>7166340I think it is a really good pic to start off with. If you are trying to go for a subtle vaporwave theme like the first several pics in the thread, then I would do something like this.
In photoshop I separated the sky, the beach, the pier, and the waves. When I had them separated, I got textures with a certain feel and color to them. If in doubt, just look for a construction paper texture of that color. This helps give each of those parts a uniform look. Certain subsections like the dark color patterns in the waves and the foam of the waves I left white for effect. For the pier, I found a couple a uniform texture that worked and then overlayed the separated pier image so that I could get the unique colors of the pillars back into the image. If you want more texture like I have in the sky and the sand then use the pointilize filter.
Using textures like this make it look less like a photograph run through an instagram filter.
If you want to make it look glitchy there are other things you could do. The photo looks like it could also lend itself well to a glitchy sort of vibe.
