There's a thread up right now for "non-depressing cyberpunk," or the optimistic and shiny ideals in post-cyberpunk and solarpunk.

Well THIS thread is to be devoted to the most depressing, horrific, nihilistic, dark, gritty, nasty polluted visions of the future. Cyberpunk, futuristic, or pure science fiction is okay up to and including Star Wars. But it must be as bleak and pessimistic as possible. I need people being kidnapped and turned into cybernetic abominations against their will. I need genetic experiments breaking containment and massacring innocents. I need nonconsensual prostitution and withdrawal from futuristic cyber-drugs.

Give me low-lifes in a high-tech world, dialed up to 11.
