I'm in a weird place now. I feel better than I have in ages, left a toxic relationship a year ago and I think I'm doing fine.

I feel pretty weird. Upset. Some of my lifelong friends are having a very hard time cooping with adulthood. One is having mental issues and rarely gets to spend time with his daughter. The other lost his twin brother recently. I myself am doing alright. Just have my own priorities and I feel guilty knowing I can't help more.

I'm seeing family for the first time in 4 years at Christmas, so I'm pretty good.

It'll be the first time I've seen them since I started transitioning, so once I'm back I'm going to be looking at booking in my top surgery to get rid of the dreaded tits. I didn't want to make such a big change without reassuring them first that I'm sure about what I'm doing and that's something done best in person.

I turned 26 this year and I feel a little weird about being closer to 30 than 20, but from what I can gather that shits normal.

I'm doing well, I think. I've started an internship on Monday and am working full-time for the first time in many, many years after being a NEET. It's a very small company, the people are nice and already treat me like family, they rely on my freshly learnt skills and are grateful that I've decided to work for them. But eight hours a day are a big chunk and I can't do as much as I've usually done during the days, cutting out things I like to do. It's a bit exhausting, but I manage surprisingly well despite lack of sleep.

My girlfriend got sexually assaulted a couple weeks ago. I'm trying to be there as much as I can but I'm too problem focused and she just wants to move on.

I'm just so angry at the injustice of it all. This has happened before to another friend and it's horrible. My gf was doing really well with her mental health and now it's all been smashed. Uni is almost over so I'll be able to be there for her more but right now I'm stuck doing revision and working so I'm disconnected from her. I know I'm just doing my best but I feel like I'm not doing enough. She's getting support from our friends and she knows she can come to me but people have been telling me to talk about it and how it's making me feel. I feel selfish even talking about it and what do I even say to people? That I'm angry? That I wish my gf would do something to catch this person? I keep imagining myself killing the person who did this to her and it just makes me feel super protective and a bit paranoid. I'm doing better but its hard.

We had a talk the other night and she said she doesn't know how I feel. That she can't get a read on me a lot of the time which makes her nervous and that she's bothering me. That kind of hurt because that's just how I am, I don't like showing much of what's going on inside of me. It's something we have talked about before but it's so tied to my way of behaving. I feel like I can deal with my own problems and those that I can't I talk about with my therapist. But obviously I need to change if it's effecting my loved ones but I don't know how much that entails. There's things about our relationship I don't want to talk about and there's things about myself I don't want to talk about either.

I just try to run at a even pace as much as I can because it's my preferred way of approaching my life. I'm just not sure how to crack that without letting everything out, which isn't what I want to let into my everyday.

Dramatic I know but things have been weighing on me.

Recently I started dating a girl I've been friends with for about six years now. My entire life I've been a shut off from my family and friends about how I really feel all of the time because that's just how I lived, how I was raised and treated etc. All these years later, I'm just now opening up to her about everything that has ever made me uncomfortable in my life, all of the injustices that've happened to me, and how I have been guilty of allowing myself to continue a cycle of abuse without realizing it. She's made me understand that I can be a better person. That I can change myself without holding myself to such a high standard I could never reach in a day's time. It is also now helping me to realize that in order to continue on with life I just need to address my problems as straight as I can. Allow for myself to take criticism and accept who I was.

I think the same sort of sentiment can be applied here, if you really want things to work with this girl you love, which I'm sure you do; you've sacrificed so much so far to stick with her. You will have to break these barriers in your mind and allow yourself to truly express how you feel, otherwise it will do nothing but bend and break your mind beyond what you thought was possible. Tell her how she hurt you, tell her how you think about the things you would do to this person, tell her how much everything hurts you as well. Otherwise she will continue to try to think of how you feel and try to read your mind while she can't, it just troubles her even more. Relationships are all about compromise, no matter the situation. None of this is your fault, and none of it was hers, I'm sure. All you had before was each other, and that's what you still have. You're not being dramatic, man, the shit sucks.

Last year I got out of an abusive relationship with the worst kind of gaslighting narcissist, who incredibly fucked with me head. I was going to therapy for a bipolar disorder I don't even have, just because I wasn't in a good mood around her the last year and a half.

So, I basically just smashed ass all of last year. That's what I was doing before I met her too. I do porn now (like actually), and I just found myself in an open relationship with a total cutie who herself got out of an abusive thing, and we're making bank with it, but I straight up just do not trust this girl (we've been hanging out for 3 months, just called it official last week). I think I'm pretty emotionally damaged from my last relationship, and kind of worried that it's permanent. Maybe I'm just fucked up. Or maybe my gut is right? I hate having someone on my mind like this with my gut screaming at me that she isn't being straight up. It's what I'm used to, so it's confusing.

I wish I could explain this to people on here, but a lot of the times sex isn't all it's cracked up to be. Sometimes it causes more problems emotionally than it does alleviate them. I know it's the 'be all end all' to some, especially if it's on a pedestal and a challenge, but the real prize is being at a point with yourself where you know it's not an issue for you to find... and once you're at peace with yourself like that, sometimes you don't even want it... but do it anyways because "hey, it's sex, it'll make me feel good about myself."

Sometimes it's even lonelier.

Dealt with poor mental health for the last 6-7 years, and made poor choices in partners given my shit self-esteem who got away with a lot of things they should not have. It always made me think there was something wrong with me and that I was inadequate as a person -- now I'm dealing with the fallout of it all and coming to terms with the fact that I was just letting others trample my boundaries.

Moved out of my parents place for the first time, not too late in my life thankfully. Having some work anxiety but hopefully it'll work out for me. Finished school 5yrs ago and am now working as sysadmin in a finance institute for 3yrs. i faced severe extistential angst 1 year after finishing engineering school at the age of 20 and it took me another year to find the job I have right now. Now I'm 24, have this stable job, my own flat that I recently finished working, my own car and am seeing a girl - that might potentially turn more serious soon, so you'd think I'm living the life.

But this Angst is coming back now - I don't wanna be stuck at the same job for 10+yrs.
I set myself a deadline of 2yrs to either upgrade my job or move into another field entirely.

I just don't know how to go about it really. I feel like I am OK at writing and its something I'd like to try but how does one start?

The more I think about my future the more I think I'm wasting my 20s right now. I'll just die as another unmemorable human and leave nothing of value behind.

I had to leave a not-so-good relationship, in a way yes: my ex was overly controlling at times, but I really loved her and she did love me.
She had been abused in the past, so that probably explains some of her quirks.
The real problem is that I moved universities and that put a distance in between - initially she'd come over every other day (an hour by train).

That is until my parents found out (they thought we had left) and we had to break it off.

Dating out of your faith in the backholes of the world (I.E. in the middle east, even if it is a "westernized" country) is just too messy and dangerous.

On the one hand, I'm enjoying the freedom and I realize I wouldn't have had time for a relationship - yet on the other hand I miss her like hell, at least we still talk every other day, still good friends.
