>>7848655Basically the midwest aka "flyover states" not only are labeled the rust belt because of the failing infrastructure, buildings, bridges, ect rusting away, but also because of all the corn that is grown here, gives it a rust color. I grew up in Southern IL and moved around from Kentucky to Arkansas, Ohio to Missouri.
Most towns where I live now are just dying mining towns, only reason everyone hasn't moved away is because of the agriculture and the Ohio River lets us get shipments of stuff from Chicago and the Great Lake region. It's a bleak existence but I grew up here, so it's home.
