>>8055970>the old ones were known for being near-indestructibleexactly, it's hard to imagine any modern laptop lasting beyond about 3 years with heavy daily use now, indeed most people would probably be fairly happy getting at least 3 years from their modern laptop, but I knew someone that daily drove an old IBM T-series for about 15-16 years before it finally completely expired, and he'd routinely take the thing on business trips all over the world too, and it never once missed a beat in all that time, the hardware was just that bulletproof
funny thing is, his first choice for a replacement laptop after the T-series finally died was some ultra-shiny high-end Apple PoS that I warned him multiple times not to buy and which ultimately lasted him maybe about 9 months before it too completely died a death under the same amount of heavy daily use
literally nobody makes mid & high-end laptops now like IBM used to make mid & high-end laptops...
