apofis mesome lives on draco-elgava, a planet home to three sapient species: trolls, carapacians, and draco-elgavans. of course two of those were imported by the undead tyrant-queen lady igneous, but its been so long theres no cultural memory of that fact.
apofis is the reincarnation of the warlock, an ancient rebel who was able to seal lady igneous away for a time. the warlock had carved runes on their face after lady igneous' sealing that were intended to bring them back exactly as they were when she came back, but due to a process known as rune rot created apofis from their soul, dna and consiousness instead.
apofis works with a group of other rebels they consider family. their greatest secret is that they are a ghost with the ability to toggle their visibility and tangibility, which is the result of the same runes activating after they died on a solo mission.
despite literally existing to take down lady igneous, apofis does not succeed in this goal. what happens is that they and their comrades, after years of training, walk into igneous' throne room only to see the queen of the neigboring planet throw her out a 4th story window. they then have to figure out how to deal with this failure
