Issues w/ an ex-miner MSI GTX 1660 Super Ventus XS OC

greets. I'm helping a friend out by upgrading their PC so it doesn't run at 14 FPS in vidya. Another friend of mine who used to have a mining rig has been selling his 1660S' for some time, I even bought one from them for my own PC, and after a stock BIOS reflash everything's been smooth good for a year now. With this experience in mind, he lent me one that he thought also suffered from some issues, but that could possibly be BIOS related. Price tag is around $200 if I get it running.
I connected it to my friend's PC with a riser I had laying around, and used an unconventional mix of adapters (2x4-pin Molex 4-pin Molex to 1x8-pin PCI-E power connector 4 the GPU, 1xSATA to 1x6-pin PCI-E power connector 4 the riser). I got to install two BIOS roms that I found in TechPowerUp's db, but both end up almost instantly failing and crashing in 3DMark w/ error "DXGI call IDXGISwapChain::Present failed [0X887A0005]". Unigine bench n game also crap out after a bit. It also frequently crashed Windows a lot, leaving the PC turned on but completely frozen and with absolutely no video output.
Moving it to my main rig and swapping my card (bit higher revision but same model) with this one and doing Win11, 3DMark and Unigine still fail but the complete Windows crashes stopped (prolly smth w/ the PSU or power adapters?), but 3DMark and Unigine have persisting issues.
The only soft that seems to not have given up on me is Furmark, which doesn't crash , but w/ the artifact detector turned on the number ramps up the number quite high, and Nvidia MODS 400.271 gives a pass. I am also noticing artifacting on Steam's account selection screen, in the form of not so many red dots quickly appearing and disappearing.
Is this card a goner, or does it have a chance?
