Reply to >>1452168 since its archived There are no pictures because it never happened. France did not have any battleships in 1971. The repatriation of French gold happened before the end of the Breton-Woods system and before Pompidou was president of France, in 1968. There is a quote that says General de Gaulle suggested sending the cruiser Colbert to pick up the gold, but his treasury minister, Giscard-d'Estaing, persuaded him not to. Another source (in French) says that they used Air France planes to transport the gold. The repatriation was referred to as Operation Vide-Gousset. sources: https://forummarine.forumactif.com/t9984-rapatriement-de-l-or-francais-depuis-les-us-par-la-marine https://www.persee.fr/doc/ecofi_0987-3368_1994_hos_4_1_5632 (Page 320) https://www.rtbf.be/article/l-or-de-la-guerre-froide-quand-charles-de-gaulle-a-defie-le-dollar-americain-11088810
