- it charges (orange light on for 3-5 seconds, then fades away)
- it doesn't turn on - blue light comes on for a second, and fades away. no pop sound.
- it was never taken apart (up until now)
- it was never modded/used CFW
I've taken it open for inspection, and seen the following things:
- red cable (WiFi?) appears to be corroded/fried. It's slightly brown-ish, pretty sure it's not supposed to be this way.
- water damage indicators are fine, friend also says it has never been taken for a swim.
-the joystick ribbon cable appears to be partially ripped.
- found some black goo (?) on the other side of the motherboard, where the SD card reader is, attached a picture of that.
- it was never dropped/hit
The backstory:
Back in 2016/17 friend was playing Pokemon, and the console just shut down abruptly. Afterwards, it was able to turn on, but started randomly shutting off, and eventually, stopped turning on all together. Was taken to repair shop, but they denied service and there was that.
I have replaced the battery, and used a different charging cable - no luck.
Tried removing the SD card reader and the half-ripped joypad, as well as disconnecting the camera ribbon cable, no luck either.
