>>1454840I know how you feel, anon. I'm a musician and I've had to use Fiverr to get vocals for some songs. In some ways I think it's really good:
When I have part of a project that's just a task that needs to be done (like recording a few lines of vocals for a song), paying some money and having it completed in a timely manner without any interpersonal relationship stuff is perfect and just what I need. There are times when I've asked friends to help with things and they don't get anything done, or they are really slow, and I have to spend time carefully asking if they've done anything without hurting their feelings and also trying to be sociable and nice so they don't think I'm just using them for their skills. Ugh, it's exhausting.
Of course on the flipside when you rely on this too much you don't build up creative relationships. You have to do most of the work yourself and you can definitely be more limited in what you can achieve when flying solo.
I think that creative relationships are the best way to go, though. You don't want to just ask friends to do things as they likely don't have the skills or interest. Getting to know other creative people mean you can all offer each other something. If you can built a network of creative relationships you can get the right balance of working with skilled people, being on friendly terms with them, but having your relationships built primarily on making cool things rather than just hanging out.
Out of interest, anon, can you link to some things you've made? I could be interested in providing music if I feel my abilities would be a good match.
