It is rare, but yes. Most girls in America are quite pretty, but not perfect. When I was in Middle School there was this girl with a similar body shape and a nice face. She was (and to my knowledge is) still dating the Filipino version of Columbo (except he is tall and had an undercut, plus earrings and a cross necklace).

When people mention that Japanese comics and cartoons have same-face syndrome and the teens they draw look too much like baby heads on super model bodies, well, they're correct but they should notice the same thing happens in America.
In fact Betty Boop may have been the first teen with a baby head on a hot woman bod and giant eyes and a high-pitch voice. She didn't have same-face syndrome though, but then again there weren't many other females in Betty Boop shorts.

you draw super model bodies on young characters so that people don't start getting attracted to the way *actual* young bodies look.
and you teach young people what bodies they *should* strive towards rather than being unattractive and get a bad life.
as a bonus your stuff of course also sell better.
