Help fixing chromecast

So I dont know if there still isnt a way to update it and make it work again and all sites and videos ive seen have said to avoid Factory resetting it. It shows up on Google Home but doesnt show up on Google TV. Any advice on the matter would be helpful as it is a 2nd gen chromecast
