The 'webz used to not be about that serious business, now you can't escape serious business anymore. So now when people go online they don't think of it as a special place to escape to, it's just another space where they have to deal with other people (normies). So instead of having a comfy old time with fellow nerds people just want to have some time alone for a change
3) third party apps
Discord is now the preferred mode of communication, after all you can chat and talk with everybody even if they're not ingame, hell you can chat and talk even if you're not ingame. The social aspect can be exported to these cesspools and people (normies) for some reason prefer them.
