I personally fancy my idea of no soul fragments and Q being a dummy plug zombie. Which reduces her to an object and doesnt stain Rei's character with her stupidity.
Although i do think that they might resurrect Rei through Q and it will be a bad thing because they will play her character stupid and pathetic in a degrading manner.
Or they will make Rei into a final boss that the Shinji will have to beat to save the world to further demonize her and just spite everyone while denying her any screentime as a character.
I'm notsure which is worse but i'm certain it's gonna be bad either way.
