>>2168155>your stance on merchandiseI'm sorry, we can never agree. You cannot conflate merchandise with the character in the show. A million figurines of Rei in a maid suit does not make Rei wear one in NGE, or change her character. It's more important what happens in the show, what is said about the character than who gets figurines.
We can only use merchandise to guess the response, if even that.
>If I'm right and they (obviously) have Rei 2, how would you feel?Further provoked and disappointed I suppose.
>Do you mean Rei Q? As you talking about her in the next sentence. Rei Q isn't less featured though, she's the one who got a huge scale figure for a recent exhibition.Which is one exhibition, which coincidentally the attendants report that Rei Q's goods didn't move off the shelves but the rest did. Rei Q gets less figures, and was of all characters, though demand should be highest for "Rei", the last to be announced for any set. Meaning she's marketed towards completionists. People who want character A, B and C.
In official art, she's featured less. Even for campaigning merch and art sets Asuka is the new focus, not ReiQ.
My point here is that ReiQ isn't received nearly as well as Rei Ayanami should be, had she been given good attention like the rest. Rei Q is negative.
>They wouldn't sabotage themselves and a money-maker like Rei intentionally nor do they have a hidden vendetta against her. It's just too stupid for a business to do.That would be wrong. They aren't a business. They're people. They have more money than they can use. They don't need investors, they don't have them in fact. It's all them.
Consider that having the real Rei there would have made them more money - but she isn't. This is already "hurting" them.
