There's not much to it. Watch the NGE series, then EoE.

Some people will tell you to watch the first half of EoE, the last two episodes of NGE, and then the second half of EoE. Don't do that. Don't watch the Rebuilds either!

To paraphrase Alice in wonderland "Begin at the beginning, and go on till you come to the End of Evangelion: then stop.”

Going in more detail:
1 - Watch the 26 episode show (theres 4 episodes that have director cuts, those are preferable)
2 - Death & Rebirth is optional if you're a first timer
3 - Watch the End of Evangelion
4 - There's the Manga which you might want to check out if you end up enjoying Eva.
5 - And there's Rebuild but that's a different beast.

I forgot, the people that give you more complicated viewing paths are trolling you. Eva in that front is fairly uncomplicated: The show and the main movie is what matters.

I think it's really interesting that the theatrical Death and Death(True) has finally been released on the BD. Especially since it seems like Death(True) removed the directors cuts scenes and (True^2) added them back in for some reason.

I think her being in random outfits and seemingly that giving her a personality more than just robotic clone is probably my favorite Rei.

Such a shame Anno always kills Rei off when she starts becoming likable as far as personality goes.

I really enjoy this one, something about it is a little more I don't know shy girl next door type feel I guess.

I don't think she's ever unlikeable, but it sucks that she has to die everytime she gets close to carve some happiness for herself. That a nice pic of what she could grow to be, Happy but a bit awkward.

I do agree however, she seems likely that as she gets older even into her mid-20s that she's just kind of an awkward book-worm. That's not really sure why you're talking to her.

The Rei that replaces the original Rei in the anime and the Rei that replaces the Rebuild Rei for 3.0 are just very robotic, that's what I'm getting at. I just always assumed people called the Rebuild Rei, Rei Q. I don't keep up with it much honestly.

The other part, like she's confused as to why you're talking to her out of all the people to talk to, because she's just a awkward girl.

Sorry, I don't know much ways to better explain either one, English isn't my first language.

That's fine, you cleared up my questions. Rei Q refers specifically to the girl that Replaces Rei in Rebuild 3.0. Rei in Rebuild 1.0 and 2.0 still is Rei.

Rei Q is nominally the equivalent of Rei III except that Rei III was the same person as her past two incarnations while Rei Q has a different soul altogether.

Kinda; most of the growth she did during the show as Rei II was lost at first. but by EoE it had come back to the point she knew her affection laid with Shinji now, not with Gendo.

Do what i did back in 05 watch the tv show then death and rebirth and finally EOE.
A lot of folks say to skip death and rebirth rebirth but give it a watch its really good.

The usual recommendation is to skip it not because it's bad but because if you're binging on the show it might feel like rehashing stuff that you just watch and stuff you're about to watch in EoE. but it's interesting in it's own way so it's worth watching at some point.

Think of Death and Rebirth as the preamble to the movie ending which is End of Evangelion. As for 'real ending' you can discuss wether it's the TV show ending or the movie ending or both for the next 20 years.

I'm pretty sure Ep. 25/26 are part of the second half of EoE, just another side/universe that Shinji is cycling through during Instrumentality.

Now whether Rebuild is a technical sequel or another weird universe from Instrumentality is a different story.

Which is why I never bought the argument that detractors make that the TV ending was just because of budget reasons since the second part of EoE becomes the same kind of thing too, just with nicer animation as you say. I'm sure budget meant they had to cut the parts that would have looked like Rebirth/Air, but both endings feel like the proper ending.

I think you're right, but I dunno if Rei has anxiety. She just has a bit of a blunt affect to social situations, even though she has a heart of pure gold. She isn't awkward per se but just doesn't give much of a fuck.

Generally I imagine this would mean she wouldn't care for weapons in the first place; but since she's Nerv personnel and a pilot and as such she absolutely has weapons training, then it would have the opposite effect: She would learn as much as possible about them and would always handle them properly.
