>>2654484I can empathize with you there as well. While my fantasy of connecting with the dead through the use of technology isn't realizable, metaphorically it sort of is. I like keeping "Dead" technology around and giving it new purpose. For instance I have a collection of unique arcade machines with experimental hardware, several virtual reality devices from the 90s, some autonomous personal assistant/home robots from the 80s, odd forms of computers (a toll computer kiosk from the 90s, several vintage apple computers with experimental form factors), hundreds of indie video games from the 90s with no records I can find online, and many hours worth of tech demo videos from the 90s working with early CGI. With many of these things it seems I'm the only one who has bothered preserving them or treating them with any value despite them obviously being the product of a lot of time and effort from people who are now forgotten or dead. I find it very sad but at least I'm able to do it if nobody else will. I just dream someday that I will genuinely find something unearthly among the forgotten programs and technology I've amassed.
