>>3871240>I have yet to read any evidence that contradicts TV Rei and Rei Q were clones with Q having only a portion of her soul.>If you want to talk about Reis that are not "real" versions of that fictional character top of the list is the How's It Hanging Rei. There were no complaints about her because she was fun and delightful but the entire point of that Rei is that it was not the "real" Rei.The first presumption in your argument is a character is simply a matter of continuation, but in the Eva universe this isn't the case. We have mothers inhabiting Evas, Shinji being reborn from Eva-01, and Rei reincarnating 3 times before joining with Kaworu (who had himself been killed) in the body of Lilith. When Shinji sees Rei during instrumentality he sees one possible reality he could create where Rei is free to be toast Rei. In the Rebuild continuity it appears what was Rei II in the TV series is in Eva-01 (which now powers Wunder) therefore it's unclear where Rei Q has originated, and the character is written and presented in such a way that underlines this. Another premise concealed in this presumption is that character continuity is meaningful, when another interpretation is the script has been written specifically to challenge that prejudice.
The second presumption is that some fans dislike Rei Q because she isn't the character in the continuity of Rei, yet you immediately contradict yourself when you concede there are other continuities of Rei that fans like. This is because you've deliberately misconstrued the semantic content of the statement "Rei Q isn't Rei" as a statement about continuity, when it's a gloss for "this characterization of Rei is a weapon to attack another characterization of Rei". Your only appeal is to the intentions of the author, but you can't reconcile that with the rest of the argument which presents itself as what's evident from within Eva itself.
