>>3290323(2/2) And as a matter of character, I’m not fond of how they seem to be setting her up for the “innocent newcomer robot girl” archetype. I thought that was supposed to be Orisa’s thing, and if we were ever going to have a fembot character, I was hoping it would be Athena in some type of mobile platform (like EDI in ME3). I think what most concerns me with this character so far is that she could potentially lock more established characters out of interesting developments they seem to have been building toward by taking them for herself.
This is all just speculation, of course. This might be a mistake, or it might be nothing at all. Personally, the more I think about it, the more I think there’s little cause for worry. Not because I see much merit in the idea, but because I’m skeptical of how much it will actually amount to anything. Wasn’t Winston activating the recall supposed to change things? Wasn’t Sombra uncovering a massive conspiracy supposed to change things? Wasn’t Doomfist retaking his place in Talon supposed to change things? Now they expect me to believe this will change things, and my response to that is: “Why should I?”. The team have repeatedly demonstrated they’re long on promises, but short on delivery. What incentive have they given me to believe them? Could they mean it this time, or are they just drumming up noise again? I don’t know. But until I actually see results, I’m not going to get up in arms about anything. And that could take a while.
